Don't blame video games for violence

Don't blame video games for violence
some how including the media is fucking stupid. what people know when they play such games even myself know you can do it in a game do not attempt in real life. there is consequences that is lawful and you will go to jail for emulating things in a game. The religious always blames something or a group, they used to blame these things, Dungeons and Dragons, comics books. Now for every action they blame these 2 things on a school shooting or some type of person killing people, atheism and video games. Atheists are the most non violent people in the world statistically speaking and as for video games they do not cause violence.

Also the gaming industry has the ESRB for a reason they regulate who and at what age can buy a game.

I blame the bad parents who put their son or daughter in front of a video game that is not intended for them at a young age.

Blaming dungeons and dragons for violence is a very long stretch. Blaming god of war, or CoD at 12, on the other hand... Dodgy

It's not nearly such a leap.

I played them all. Committed virtual genocides by the numbers and everytime I play Neverwinter Nights it's always with a chaotic/evil character. And yet, I haven't shot up a mall or a school and have no desire to do so.

In real life I'm anti gun to the extent of being a radical.

Problem is, the ones blaming video games, mainly politicians and self declared moral authorities, probably haven't gambled once in their entire life. It's a cheap scapegoat to stir away the public from other underlying and more complicated causes for violence.

People have been blaming different things for the state of the world ever since they came up with the concept of scapegoating.

Rock and Roll
Role Playing Games
Computer Game
The Internet

You name it, someone's blamed it for evil.

People need to look at their own natures.

You're also not a very impressionable preteen Wink

Or... actually kind of crazy. Toss on some bullying, demonstrate that there's an outlet, but it's not enough... and you've got yourself a proper little murder monster Skunk

And toss a bit of child abuse into the mix and you might even get a serial killer.

The only time video games lead directly to violence is when you unplug the console just as your mate is about to level up.
