Favourite Semi-Obscure Music
Ever been humming or singing softly to yourself when someone overhears you and asks what it is and then you tell them and they say, 'Never heard of it' and you have to launch into an explanation of either the song or the artist, all the while thinking to yourself, 'What kind of rock has this culturally deprived goon been living under that they are so sadly, woefully ignorant of music that I like?' and wishing desperately that you were somewhere - anywhere - else, preferably a place where run-on sentences like this one are outlawed by decent-thinking people?

It happened to me yesterday with this one:

Boru
‘But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods or no gods. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.’ - Thomas Jefferson

Anytime I say "Steven Wilson" or "Paul Hartnoll" people are like "Who?"

And that's Steven Wilson ala Porcupine Tree and people again are like "Who?"

And Paul Hartnoll ala Orbital and people are like "Who?"

And then there's always Riverside:

Satan's Satyrs. 2015's 'Don't Deliver Us' is a great album. Dirty psychadelic rock.

That IS my favorite song ever. It was for 11 years and then I very temporarily preferred Discard Your Fear by Riverside and Parabol + Parabola by Tool... but then I returned, inevitably, back to Halcyon On + On again.

Ever heard this version?

^^^ This one is the orginal ^^^

Although I heard On + On first... and it's my favorite.

Heard this version?

It's a remixed lyrical version of Halcyon On + On... the lyrics kick in when the vocals kick in... and throughout the song the wordless vocals are replaced with lyrical vocals (the orignal ones from Its A Fine Day by Opus III, which is what the backmasked vocals from Halcyon is sampled from):

Also, here's another beautiful Orbital song, of many:
