Why is it that, the farther away someone is, the more they look like someone I know, but the closer they get, the less they look like that person?
Also, why is the result of this effect that I frequently wave to people in the distance and shout out the name of the person I think they are until they get close enough for me to realize that they're a total stranger and I've just made an arse of myself?
