Suratal Abu Lahab (The Fatiha perspective)
#9
RE: Suratal Abu Lahab (The Fatiha perspective)
Quote:I know many non-Muslims, including Atheists, have a problem with this Surah, why single out a man in a Surah and his wife, to go to hell.

They aren't singled out to go to hell, Allah forces lots of none believers and people who commit shirk to go to hell.

There's not exactly a problem with the verse, it's exactly what you would expect from a primitive book addressed to local tribes concerning local quarrels. It's just ridiculous that this is supposed to be a document from god addressed to mankind.

Muhammad is supposed to be the messenger of the quran and supposed to have had no input into the content of it, it's just a coincidence that god seems to really really hate  Muhammad's uncle who quarrelled with Muhammad so much that they get an entire chapter in the book dedicated to them and describing their punishment.

It's ridiculous because it's clearly not addressed to all mankind, to even begin to understand the verse you have to be culturally brought up within Islam.

It's the same as me saying to you "Hey mystic knight, god told me to tell you this.... I'm going to headbutt John's nutsack into hell, and his girlfriend is going to get a kick in the head aswell."  It makes no sense unless you know who John is or why god would want to do that to him.  There's no information there for you to do anything with or make sense of.

Let's say some aliens found a quran, even if they understood the language it would make no sense just on it's own.  The quran doesn't say who Abu Lahab is, why him and his wife are being punished.  It's a primitive book of local quarrels using local idioms not a book addressed to mankind from God.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
