I watched Park again soon after coming home from seeing World in the cinema, and was shocked how good the writing and the characters in the original were compared to Trevorrow's film, which I thought was a hot mess which did not make good use of the cast or the pretty promising premise, and in which the characters were nonsensical. And don't get me started on gender roles. I don't see how the original has aged horribly in this case. And no, the originals are not always untouchable, and often even remakes are better. For example, I find the 70s version of body snatchers much better than the classic version.
