John 13:23 Wrote:Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
Jesus was only 30 years old, not more than ten or fifteen years older than his disciples. His disciples weren't little kids looking for comfort from an adult. Why did the bible make a big deal about the fact that Jesus loved this disciple butt didn't give him a name? Why would a grown man lean on another man's bosom except for physically intimate love?
Apparently, the church had such a problem with this supposedly "innocent" gesture that the NIV changed it to say the disciple was merely reclining near Jesus. That's not a reinterpretation. Those are two entirely different things. How easily god's word can be fixed when too many eyebrows rise over what it says.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
