Actually Fredd, I find it encouraging.
The fact that many people on here are willing to float some of their deepest selves here is one of the very few reasons I appreciate internet anonymity. Internet wide we have seen more and more of the darker side of humanity, that people publicly keep to themselves about. Perhaps it's training individuals to talk more deeply and genuinely IRL? I'm not sure if the pace can be matched with anonymity causing so much damage, but it at least might be some silver lining. The fact that people here are supportive and encouraging broken people is even more encouraging to me. It is a testament to the sympathy/empathy and compassion of the community that is sometimes buried under the vitriol.
I don't think there are many more people here that are broken and need help than there are in any subset or group you walk by every day. The difference is most people don't really have real conversations throughout their normal day.

"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
