That was my position, sometimes to a former believer 'agnostic' is more a natural way to go in that it's easier to go the 'it's impossible to know for sure' route. Though now I consider myself an athiest. I'm convinced (so far as we can say we are convinced) that no gods exist.
A good book I'd recommend is "Dot, Dot, Dot...Infinity Plus God Equal Folly" by the mathematician Dr. James A. Lindsay. He discusses how 0.9999 repeating is equal to 1; in terms of the Dawkins Scale, 6.9999 repeating would be equal to 7.
