I’m weirdly impressed - that was depressing and lyrical at the same time. Good stuff.

Roddenberry and Sagan provided an alternative from the noir of the 50s and 60s, seeing technology as a beacon for our species. We no longer think that big. We're programmed by influences that simply don't matter. We're a species distracted by technology, not enabled by it.
Roddenberry and Sagan saw a future where human differences were overcome, and we strove for expanding our understanding. That is no more Difference is the main point now. Devolution.
ETA - Technological pursuit is still a noble cause, but one pursued by the more higher classes economically, and financed by the elite.
I'm fully a hypocrite here. I am in the innovation economy. I recognize the difference of viewpoints.
