Often when people are unable to get along with anybody, some of the problem is a little closer to home.

I can see taking the patient to church, but think the extra curricular fund raising activities to be a bit much. Although, compared to your two previous positions this should be a walk in the park even if not optimum. A vast majoirty of us must put up with bullshit at work, including managing personality conflicts.
