Using SSDs for dual boot systems

Using SSDs for dual boot systems
On my laptop I've got a 256gb SSD and Windows 7, but I am considering adding a partition for a Linux Mint installation. But I'm not sure whether it's a good idea given that it's an SSD. For instance, if there are two partitions, with two OSes, will that affect how the SSD is 'TRIMmed'... eg will it create uneven wear on the drive; will the TRIM feature only trim the partition it is called from or the whole drive? I roughly understand how SSDs work; that there is a separation between the logical and physical storage... that even a static file in the filesystem is being constantly moved around the drive at the physical level, in order to even the wear. But what I'm wondering is whether that logical/physical separation extends to partitions not just file systems? Because if it doesn't, it looks like it would significantly reduce the the lifespan of the drive, if one partition was used significantly more than the other... because the aim of the wear levelling is to ensure that all sectors in the drive fail at roughly the same time, and thus get the maximum use out of the drive, but if the sectors are blocked off as it were in partitions, then a smaller partition would wear quicker while another didn't at all, and the drive would fail quicker. So any advice would be much appreciated Smile
