The Truth contest, Essential Oils and New Age Spirituality
Though there is no official doctrine or set of beliefs for these folks, I think this type of 'religion,' if it can even be called that, is becoming more and more popular now days as a result of mostly younger folks or millennials rejecting most forms of mainstream religion. Still hanging on to their dogmatic ways of thinking, but rejecting the concepts presented by religions like Christianity or Islam, the people believe that they are somehow separate or different from other religious folks, but they've actually just created a new sort of anti religion. A set of beliefs that is not really agreed upon or debated, just a general idea that, "We're not religious, we're spiritual."

The New Age Spirituality movement's beliefs/ideas/practices etc. include but are not limited to:

The Truth contest
The Law of Attraction
Essential oils
Healing Crystals
Prayer
Mantra
Yoga
Meditation
Mindfulness
Mind expansion
Use of psychedelics
Pacifism
Vegetarianism
Veganism
The Age of Aquarius
Alternative Medicine
Ancient aliens/UFOs/Aliens
Animal magnetism
Creation myths
Chakras
Channeling
Astrology
Apocalyptic prophecies

The great thing about being a part of this movement is, you're not necessarily required to believe in/practice/think about all, or any for that matter, of these things! It's a sort of net gun of spiritual thought/practice. They borrow many practices and beliefs from various religions, allowing themselves to move freely from one contradicting idea to the next, all the while maintaining that everything they are saying makes perfect sense if you just 'open your mind.'

Now as with any set of beliefs, you can cherry pick certain things from it and probably get quite some use out of those things. I actually practice meditation quite often and find to be very helpful in calming my mind and allowing me to think more clearly. But you won't see me going online spending hundreds of dollars on essential oils that 'promote vitality and positive thinking' all while 'channeling my crown chakra.' Not for me.

While I am sort of poking fun at this stuff, I'm honestly interested to see what people think about the New Age Movement and some of their beliefs. And do you consider yourself spiritual?

What do you find to be most interesting about these beliefs or practices? Do you believe in any of these things yourself?
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll
