That is just the law that the EU put into effect. The first link was just a statement that GMOs affect biodiversity, not deleteriously I might add.
Just being skeptical here, but how many government bodies can you name that have made laws that are based on popular response and economics rather than sound science?
I don't necessarily think that GMOs are all good, I just think that there are a lot of pseudoscientific claims made about it.
