As most of you know, the staff was working on a bunch of overhauls based on feedback from the community. So far, the most obvious of these has been the addition of serious threads and the thread title rule. The next step in this journey is meant to be staff-side. You'll notice, and we will announce, a much more streamlined set of rules on the rules page. This is to prevent further confusion over the rules here. What you won't notice are shiny new mod guidelines that will make actions and offenses clear as crystal. There will be detailed records of each offense and action as well. The result of this should be consistency in punishments for rule-breaking.
The staff agrees that over the years, the rules have become convoluted as we've added to them to deal with new situations that arise. However, it might be a little while before you see the sleeker rules (none of which have changed other than those announced. They've just been made much simpler.) They're complete, but Tibs and I are dealing with some personal and very time-consuming issues here at home. As Tibs is the guy who handles the rules page, it might be a bit before they get up there, but I wanted to let you know they exist, and that you can look forward to them soonish.
Thanks for your patience as the forum has some growing pains. Those of you who advocated for them, please make use of the serious threads. I really want to see how they work out.
