For example, protecting copyright was used in sites like google. Another example is Facebook's banning of abusive posts. Youtube too uses the similar techniques.
Your point is valid when we speak about a single human sharing their opinion. But when that person uses technology to automate their opinion to produce thousands -if not Millions- of spam messages then it is twisting of truth and compulsive forcing of an idea.
It's already illegal according to many sites. It should be illegal as a general rule.
You show your ignorance by conflating so many different ideas
Changing truth, copyright protections, abusive posts are not equal and are only tangentially related. The fact is that before AI there were cadres of people who ban together to blanket areas with their propaganda, they simply used different methods like flyers or symbols to terrorize or manipulate people through convincing ideas. The word Christian is an example of conflating truths and bending a narrative to create a voting block instead of allowing the differences between theists to segregate them into powerless smaller groups prone to infighting i.e. Catholics and Protestants.
Don't kid yourself, there are very little laws that create actionable legal positions against liars just because they aren't truthful. There has to be a demonstration of damages.
I have no doubt there are cabals using hackers to manipulate markets and craft stories to bamboozle the world. This is why it is important to learn critical thinking so you can sift through the ideas presented to you and make sense of them instead of going off half cocked and seeing bots everywhere.
But lying is punished if it was carried out to frame elections, manipulate voting, spreading false news and more. The punishment can be as little as a ban from a forum -like rule 18 and rule 20 state loudly-:

or as big as a prison sentence for years as it is the case with identity theft:

In this regard; I dismiss your point of view, technology doesn't change the rules.
