CIVIL WAR/WW2 history...... help me out.

I know I am a pain in the ass, and I don't know if I am reading this wrong or misunderstanding but this is the article title I picked up on WIKI.
"Google headline for a wiki article, " Eight presidents served during World War II, while seven served in the military during the American Civil War."

The how the fuck can you serve in the civil war and WW2? Maybe I am reading this wrong, but those 7 must have had good genes and been eating their Wheaties. I don't get it,
There was like 5 billion years between those wars, and how young were those 7 served in the Civil War? I swear I am not on meth, I simply cant wrap my head around this.
DAM IT, I think I was mislead by the line.
They were talking about overall numbers not one president serving in both wars.
I know people get old, but that line I quoted made no sense. Took me some time to figure it out.
