Please help me reach your conclusion about the Qur'an. I'll wait.

Ok.

Here are some stats that show just how vile Islam is.

Not really sure what you mean by ‘the god wars’.

Islam and Christianity are competing to rule the world. Fascists all want to rule the world.

For leaders, the purpose of a god is to provide the leader with legitimacy and power.  Therefore, the god that provides the most power to a despot who either takes over the world, or destroys it, will win.

Sadly, I don't think mankind will ever outgrow gods.  As long as leaders need a god, they will create priests to push them on people, and blasphemy laws to protect the priests.

Well put.

I do not think we can outgrow our need for gods or the tribes that invent them.

We are born tribal/religious, and that impulse is provided by our selfish genes that push tribalism as the best form of survival for us.

Nice if all tribes and religions would learn to trade instead or war with violence.

Religion does have an earthly purpose. It has several. That's why it's lasted.

I think that Aslan came to that same conclusion.

It does have an evolutionary purpose, just as our tribal instincts do.

Chlamydia has also lasted.

Atheism as well, even through the many inquisitions and jihads.
