"If I didn't believe in god, I would have no reason to be good" part duex.
Since you -already- believe that human beings have inherent rights, on such a shaky foundation as a "god"..I can -guarantee- that you would continue to believe that they do, even if you didn't believe in a god. It clearly takes very little for you to believe in human rights. There's no shortage of points other than "god" from which to proceed, many of which you are already well aware of.
my bold.
Oh please. That's not AT ALL what I said.
And why are you picking on me for saying that? A lot of atheists here are saying the exact same thing - That people don't have inherent rights. All I was saying was that I understand why they would think that if they don't believe in a God to assign people those inherent rights.
I don't think I'm going to respond to you anymore.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
