I was raised in a secular household but got involved with a youth ministry affiliated with a Baptist (ABC) church. After a few years, I became uncomfortable enough with the open bigotry of some of the leadership that I stopped attending and continued study on an individual, non-denominational basis. I attended non-denominational services for much of the time I was in the military but did not continue past my mid-20s.
P.S. Dad was raised in a Catholic household, Mom in a Mormon one. It didn't take for either of them, either (or for either of my siblings). I suppose our family has a low tolerance for bullshit.
