The settlement announced by attorney Lyndsay Markley before a lawsuit was filed marks the latest chapter in the story of McCormack, one of the most notorious pedophiles in the history of Chicago’s archdiocese.
McCormack, who pleaded guilty in 2007 to sexually abusing five children while he was a priest at St. Agatha’s parish in Chicago, was released from prison last fall and has registered as a sex offender with the Illinois State Police. He was listed as living on the Near North Side.

Witness describes finding Shelby priest and her then boyfriend in bed
A woman testified Thursday that in the 1980s when she was 16 she arrived unannounced at her 18-year-old boyfriend’s apartment and found him and a priest lying in a bed partially clothed.
The 53-year-old woman, whose identity is being withheld to protect the identity of her former boyfriend, said in Macomb County Circuit Court that during her teens she and her boyfriend befriended Neil Kalina, who is on trial for molesting a different teen boy in the mid-1980s when he was at St. Kieran (Catholic) Church in Shelby Township.
Kalina, 66, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which is punishable by up to life in prison, and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The jury could find him guilty of a less severe charge on each offense.
Kalina provided the boy with alcohol, marijuana and cocaine, and the boy awoke to Kalina fondling him during overnight stays at the St. Kieran recorty, according to a sworn statement by Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Rick Lutz.
Kalina was among several men in the clergy charged in 2019 with criminal sexual-conduct-related allegations while serving at churches in Michigan as part of a special investigation under state Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Ex-priest who abused Inuit children 'should rot in jail,' says federal minister
The statutory release of a defrocked priest who sexually abused children in Igloolik, Nunavut, received a sharp response from the federal minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations.
On Thursday, Minister Marc Miller told reporters he believes people like Eric Dejaeger "should rot in jail."
Dejaeger, now 75, was convicted in 2015 of 32 counts of sexually abusing people in Igloolik, many of them children.
He was granted release in mid-May to serve the rest of his sentence in the community under several conditions. Statutory release is offered to most prisoners after they have completed two-thirds of their time, but the Parole Board of Canada can deny release if it believes the offender is likely to commit crimes including sexual abuse of children.

Advocacy group: Sexual abuse involving minors reported at Hannibal church
According to a report released by the advocacy group, a youth leader in the church allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct, rape and molestation against minors in the church. The report alleges testimony and accusations regarding claims of sexual abuse were not reported to legal authorities by church leaders, and the officials named in the allegations were not removed from their positions by the church’s pastor.
According to the advocacy group’s report, Safehouse Unmuzzled representatives did not attempt to contact the pastor, citing intimidation and threats from the church’s bishop in Iowa.

The longtime pastor of Holy Ghost Headquarters Revival Center in North Philadelphia sexually abused three people, including a former parishioner, when they were minors, according to prosecutors in Montgomery County.
The Rev. Mark Hatcher, 59, of Blue Bell, was charged Wednesday with rape, statutory sexual assault, corruption of a minor, and related offenses. Hatcher remained in custody as prosecutors successfully lobbied a magisterial district judge in Blue Bell to deny him bail, calling him a “danger to the community,” according to court records.

Grand jury indicts former RI priest on charge of raping a boy
Kevin Fisette, 66, of Dayville, Connecticut, is charged with a single count of first-degree sexual assault. He is set to be arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court, Providence.
Attorney general's office spokesman Blake Collins said no arrest warrant was issued for Fisette and he is expected to appear in court.
Fisette was removed from the ministry by the Diocese of Providence in August 2009 but never laicized or removed as a member of the clergy, according to a news release from the attorney general's office.
