Apart from that dreadful theme song and a laughable series finale, I thought it was pretty damned good. It seemed to pretty smoothly combine the monster-of-the-week motif of TOS with the political story arcs of DS9. Not perfect, but much better that people give it credit for.
Not to mention that I could watch T’pol apply that decontamination gel all. day. long. Woof.

The last season saw the show finally coming into its own.
Didn't really like the first couple of seasons.
But then, I"ll admit, openly, that I'm biased against "retro-trek".
There was so much open that could be explored after the end of DS9 and the Dominion War.
But, no, they had to go a century before Kirk.
Not overly fond of Discovery season one, either, though season 2, with Captain Pike of the Enterprise was pretty good.
The actor who played Pike perfected the role.
