It's not like there's anything wrong with demanding (or requiring) evidence before one believes things, though.
If I made the claim that leprechauns gave me magical powers, you'd be in your full rights to say "Oh yeah? Prove it."
All brewer is saying is that nothing has convinced him of proof of God. When you assert God's existence, his reply is: "Oh yeah? Prove it."
You can't prove it, and he remains unconvinced. If you can make peace with that, you'll be fine. If you insist he holds out belief anyway, you'll be disappointed.
