I'm not much into politics myself, and if someone was super into it or talking about it all the time, I probably wouldnt be super close friends with them anyway because I dont share that similar interest with them.
I dont think you're a horrible person for feeling that way. It is one thing to ditch a friend, and another one completely to just grow apart over time because you 2 are too different.
