If they had the political pull you seem to think the gun manufacturers have - they could sell cars without seat belts, got 3 mpg - and would break down on a scheduled basis.
No- the power is in the people. The voters. The people who like guns and plan on keeping them.
Car makers haven't needed to create a need like the gun makers, so they haven't collaborated to achieve their goals.

MOST people could get by with a 2500 lbs car that got 50 mpg - but noooooooo ... The manufacturers get a higher profit margin on big wasteful land yatchs rather than fuel efficient vehicles --- so they convince you that " you NEED" one....

I lived. So did most. We didn't get mom commuting us from home to school ( doorstep to doorstep) in a fucking tank.
