Cars are risky, but it's a risk weighed against necessity and heavily regulated. Guns...I love em, but they're not cars. Brians passionate about guns, you're apparently passionate about cars, apparently. The two of you can tackle both issues as advocates at the same time.
Nonsense. I don't see any way to take away half of the guns in the country, but taking away half of the cars would be a pretty easy thing to do over the course of a few years. It won't collapse the economy. That's just "I can't possibly live without my car" hysteria. Most Americans can totally live without their car. Especially once everyone stops assuming that everyone has a car. And the lives saved? Oh my gosh, the people who manage to keep their cars will be the most careful drivers you've ever seen in your life. The only thing that you have to do to take people's cars is revoke their driving privilege when they abuse it. Half the cars off of the road in a few years, just like that! Tons of car pooling. Way less traffic. Super careful drivers. Hardly anyone ever dying in a car accident.
Of course you don't.
