Car windows are easy to break, a gun safe in the home bolted to the floor or wall would be a better option. I'd say in transport if you have to, you should never leave it alone and keep it locked up even in the car.
There are videos online showing how to beat at least one major brand of gun safes (with fingerprint ID system) with the foil from a stick of gum. Guns in the home are never safe.
