While The Satanic Temple has certainly done a few interesting things, I find them to mostly be copy-cats of the Official Church of Satan, founded in 1966 by Anton LaVey. There are some philosophical differences, the main ones being that the CoS is very much in favor of social stratification and vengeance on one's enemy, whereas The Satanic Temple espouses seven tenets which are much more about compassion and love. The Satanic Temple is, in some senses, a watered down version of LaVey's original Church of Satan. I find it mostly pointless to make such of offshoot of Satanism, but I suppose like with any movement, people will break off and try to make it there own, which is probably why there are so many Christian denominations. People will take one movement and agree with everything within that movement but a few things and decide an entirely new movement needs to be created. Human nature, I suppose.
I'd probably find myself aligned with the beliefs held by the Church of Satan much more than The Satanic Temple, though, to be honest. The film I linked above is all about the Church of Satan, and how they were basically sort of just normal people who had some pretty hippy ways about them (they did start in the 60s).
That being said, I think TST does some cool stuff and would be interested to see their film.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
