It's so good to be able to bring my groceries upstairs and my laundry down to the basement without the use of the old stairway. The unit operates much more quietly than I imagined. It sounds much like my central vacuum cleaner when the cab is moving upwards. It takes about eight seconds to travel from one floor to another. My carpenter is making a pantry adjacent to the kitchen in the space formerly occupied by the stairway.
How will you, or a future resident, get things like furniture to the upper floor?
The main floor is still accessible by outside stairways. The upper floor is my library, laboratory and attic, none of which require any more than the minimum furniture already there.

Coincidentally, I brought an 18-lb. jug of kitty litter down to the basement this morning.
