Oh, I wasn't offended, I've just never heard anyone connect the team name with racism, however tangentially. I was explaining, not criticizing.

Dude, sometimes humor is just that.
It was not implying racism on their part, but it is still true that a team name like that would not fly here in the states. You'd in reality if we had an NFL team named "The All Blacks" have a response from the white anxiety right saying "Why cant we have a team named "The All Whites".
I totally accept that that rugby team name has nothing to do with race.
Just like if I joked "I can find Fort McHenry on my GPS but not Fortitude."
