When my 5 y.o ask about the meaning of this; my answer would be taken right away from wikipedia: "when girls become women, they will produce blood for a week from each month. That blood is harmful, but the little girl is not little anymore; they can handle that blood and clean it. It's not painful, but a sign that you are a woman now".
The second verse:
I would say to the 5 y.o daughter: "Remember verse 222 of Sura 2 ? We talked about how little girls bleed a non-painful blood for a whole week from every month when they become women; just like vampires When women grow old that blood stops. Some little girls go very late to become women; their blood delays.
These 2 verses are about how Muslim women should handle their bodies and handle the responsibility their body imposes on them, including women who have health problems delaying their periods
But where is the chatter? that's everything about menstruation in the Quran that I know of.
Ok, so you're comfortable explaining menstruation to a child, but not ejaculation. Why the difference?

Ejaculation is mostly sexual and produced after sexual encounters -even if the encounter was with one's own hand-. Menstruation is not sexual; but a sign of growing up for females.
