There is no apostacy rule. It was made up.
If there are hadiths stipulating, there is also hadiths, indirectly forbidding it.
Authentic and non-authentic doesn't determine what is true. Scholars accused people of liars or being truthful when they didn't know. Ilmel Rijaal = conjecture.
Quran in detail showed what do with apostates (see Suratal Nisaa for example), and it's not that they should be killed. Hadiths are useful as insights or when they are at level of Tawatur they can establish historical facts. Quran is manifested by the Sunnah and vice versa, the hadiths are a tool to rely on the chosen ones to interpret Quran but must be taken with due care since a lot is attributed to the Prophet and Twelve Successors that is false.
