Stoning is deeply ingrained in the entire regional culture, not just the portion that adheres to this or that psuedo holy rambling. There's always local flavor when it comes to executions. The Iroquois, during mourning war, would cut off the fingers of their captives, making them sing and dance on a scaffold under which they'd lit a fire....branding them if they slowed down....and, finally, when they could no longer dance...would crack open their skulls and pour sand in them.
You could receive a pardon from this sentence, and if so, you would take the place, title, belongings, responsibilities, and even human relationships of the deceased. If I had to wager a guess, the prefgerence for stoning is likely due to access. There are lots of rocks. In places with tons of water or fiber for cordage they might prefer drowning or hanging. Just as burnings are immensely popular in densely wooded areas. Human superstition and cultural predilection has a tendency to mirror our circumstance - though it can outlast that circumstance, obviously.
Speaking of local flavors; stoning is a dirty heathen habit that Jews borrowed from heathen religions, embedded it in their own:

Quote:stoning is attested in the Near East since ancient times as a form of capital punishment for grave sins.[47] Stoning was "presumably" the standard form of capital punishment in ancient Israel.[48] It is attested in the Old Testament as a punishment for blasphemy,
I don't know where did Jews bring it from. But if ancient Israel did it, then probably a heathen community in the Levant was doing it; and Jews copy-cat them.
For all I care; Jewish extreme, inhumane sentences are being blamed on the Quran.
I wonder how much and how many Zionists and right-wing bastards payed to spread the rumor.
