It's just before I fall asleep and someone leans in and yells something gibberish in my ear.
Sometimes it's the snippet of a conversation between two people, again, really loud.
It's calmed down a lot as I've aged and it hasn't bothered me for years anyway.
I read somewhere once that it's related to narcolepsy?
I remember the first time I read about exploding head syndrome. I was HUGELY disappointed.
