You do realize there’s a difference between paraphrasing a text and misleading people about what it’s actually saying, right? And that the latter is against the rules, which Boru is well within his rights to enforce, since he is a mod, right? And that we’ve been over this issue when you spent an entire thread laughing at Greta Thunberg for basically repeating what medical experts have been saying about COVID for the past couple months and saying it’s a COVID expert giving an alternative opinion about the pandemic, when your own damn article said she was just an activist signal boosting the advice of actual experts, right?

And for your overuse of NPC memes, Agonstico, you are probably the one member of the boards who seems to fit the stereotype to a tee. You don’t seem to be able to think for yourself, just regurgitating the most moronic and/or hateful opinions you can without bothering to think about whether or not they actually fit or even make any fucking sense. If you did, you wouldn’t have spent the duration of a thread claiming people in favor of vaccines don’t trust them to be safe and therefore Want to make them mandatory like a mantra; if A) you had two brain cells to rub together, B) that idea crossed your mind at all and C) you actually thought about it for a Planck time, you would have rejected it as nonsense in a very literal sense of the term, because that’s exactly what it is. Hell, the fact that you haven’t even bothered to pick an avatar, instead representing yourself as the forums’ default white figure of a man against a blue background helps contribute to the “you are what you hate” irony of your obsession with the NPC meme. And, by the way, for all your bitching about Australia’s lockdowns, you NEVER seem to react when I point out that Australia’s actually been slowly easing the lockdowns for the past couple weeks.

On the topic of the OP, given how much the medical experts have spent the past three months or so exhorting people to socially distance themselves and remain in quarantine, it’s honestly kind of brave of them to go out of their way to defend these protests. It’s a tricky tightrope to walk, since in both cases (COVID and police brutality) these are huge problems that cause a lot of potentially preventable deaths (especially to a disproportionally high number of black people). I’ve said before that at some point, we’re just going to have to find a way to balance slowing down the spread of COVID and just living our lives, and now, it looks like we’re finally doing that. And surprisingly, “protest against your people getting needlessly killed by police” wound up being one of the earliest issues.
