Remaking themselves from the study of mind to the study of behavior (though they may soon reframe it as the study of mind again as diagnostic tools improve).
Alot of the so-called "soft sciences" have been tackling this dilemma. Archaeology was bible and spade for centuries. Turns out that meant centuries of mistakes and fundamental misapprehensions. Now they're pointing satellites at the desert and picking up trails that half a dozen people over the span of a millennia may have used.
