However, you’d need to eat 8 pounds of potatoes and drink 2 gallons of milk per day. And I’m not sure if that’s even possible.

During the great Irish famine in the nineteenth century more than a million died. Another 1.5 million left, mostly to America. Before the famine, the population of Ireland was about 8 million. Today, Southern Ireland has 4.94 million. Combined with Northern Ireland, the the total is 6.8 million.
I read that the reason for the famine cause by the potato blight was that for a couple of million Irish, their diet was mainly potatoes and oats.
The ‘great Irish famine’ is a myth. You can’t have famine in a country full of food. It was a deliberate attempt at genocide.
And please don’t say ‘Southern Ireland’. There’s no such country - it’s either ‘The Republic of Ireland’ or simply ‘Ireland’.
