The Finke river in Australia is believed to be the oldest river still flowing in the world. Parts of the Finke river have been flowing in its present channel for over 400 million years, that is to say it has been flowing in its current channel since many tens of millions of years before the very first vertebrate crawled out of the ocean onto land.
