I would recommend you looking at pictures from the 1960's in Afghanistan compared to now. Elites were greedy for profitable resources, such as oil. They had the C.I.A. go into Afghanistan to normalize Islamic terrorism through scheming and indoctrinating gullible or greedy people with religious fearmongering. Islamic terrorism is what reversed the progress in Afghanistan in regards to women's rights, human rights in general, scientific literacy, and economic power. That reversed progress is what caused vulnerable Afghanistan to become a failed country. Which gave elites a better chance at invading it. Elites normalize a military culture to invade countries like Afghanistan at the expense of international human rights, poor countries, and Earth's environment. Because they care about money and power more than kindness and morality. The Vietnam War is just an example of the people's reckless greed for money and power. I expect human nature to make more wars happen in the future unless people make an arguably better world or Earth is destroyed before humans escape it.
The US wasn't engaged in any open war in the mid east before 2000. What's your point with this mini history lesson? How is it relevant to the OP?

Why is it so?
