I've been shouting since the former guy started attacking Obama after he poked fun of him at the press conference dinner, when the former guy started his public tirades, and continued them throughout his run years after, that what he was doing was dangerous. Combine that with the fact that Mitch basically rigged the supreme court, knowing the GOP base wanted to seat a Supreme court that would undo Roe V Wade. The Supreme court didn't give the GOP what they wanted with this last ruling. Much like lots of other cases as being confused with overturning, but merely skipped, because of media not clarifying, this last ruling let the vigilante law stand, not because abortion should be illegal, but based on a "technicality".
It really is no different than the Newdow "pledge case". The SCOTUS at that time was not saying "Under God" in the pledge should stay, but in that Newdow, at the time, did not have enough legal custody of his kid to file the lawsuit.
But you are absolutely right. This is evil. If law, even outside the issue of abortion, is going to legalize vigilantism, which is what the Texas law is, it is a huge alarm.
