I wasn't witness to this story of the OP of course. But if I am basing it on human psychology, the rape happened and nobody stopped it initially, physically, because they didn't want to get hurt themselves, or some thought it was a kinky couple. It isn't excusing the rape one bit. I think it is still lost on some readers of the thread that the rape was still ultimately reported. My guess is someone with a cell phone reported it and 911 arrested the fucker at the next stop. Is it lost on some here that the guy was arrested?
Not getting involved the nanosecond something happens, does not make the bystanders criminals on par with the criminals.

Why? If I was part of the plan, or had foreknowledge of the plan, I can understand that. But if I am say, in a bank and a customer, and robbers point guns at me, even though I am not an employee, how am I responsible if they shoot the teller and kill them?
It fucking sucks this woman got raped. And I agree considering the crowd it makes no sense that enough people didn't jump in. But this is more an issue of situational group psychology than it is good intent.
Yes, it sucks. But to 100% blame bystanders is absurd.
If I saw someone being raped, sure, I would try to do something, but getting myself killed in physically confronting them doesn't help the victim if I cant get to a phone or police car does it?
