Hypothesis: if you’re not sure about a given Muslim, just play him this song. If he reveals he dislikes music (especially if he considers it haram), there’s a non-negligible chance that he might be a radical.
If he likes it, he’s probably not going to be a threat to the infidel. If he just doesn’t get it, well, the motherfucker just doesn’t have taste.
In all seriousness, I suspect that Nusrat might be a good way to normalize Muslims in the eyes of someone who might not be inclined to like them. He’s a hell of a musician, uses his voice like John Coltrane played his sax, and as far as I’ve been able to find, he wasn’t a threat to anyone or anything more than a plate of Samosas or a bun kebab. Of course, it might help if you start with the albums he made with Michael Brooks. It’s probably more accessible than one of his 20-minute qawwals.
