Yesterday AOC was on MSNBC calling for Tucker to be banned. Probably this didn't influence Fox's decision, but I'm not sure I like it when popular "liberal" politicians are calling for media censorship.

Tucker was often horrible, but he was the only one on corporate media who called for Julian Assange to be freed, who said that war with China would be stupid, and several other true things. Now even these little bits of truth will disappear from TV, as the rest of Fox is all in on fake news, and the other corporate outlets (e.g. MSNBC) are all in on slightly different fake news. 

It's a case of being careful what you wish for -- whoever replaces him will be worse.

Julian Assange is a snake in human form and no one proposing war with China so nothing he stood for was good. Tucker told no truths...period.

Tucker Carlson received an offer from Russian state media after Fox News announced it would part ways with the longtime host on Monday.

Fox announced Monday morning that Carlson would be departing from the network, writing in a statement that the conservative host's last show aired on Friday. Fox wrote, "FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor."

Carlson, a conservative firebrand, has faced criticism from the left over his stance on a variety of topics including the 2020 presidential election and the Russia-Ukraine war, as he has voiced criticisms against Ukraine and its president Volodymyr Zelensky, earning him praise from Russia. Despite these criticisms, Carlson frequently ranked among the most-watched cable news hosts, as conservatives support him.

The announcement that Carlson would be leaving the network drew strong reactions from both his supporters and critics on social media Monday, including from the Kremlin-affiliated news outlet Russia Today (RT).

RT, which has previously published news articles in support of Carlson, appeared to make an offer for him to appear on their network.

While most Fox News personalities, other news companies, and Trump officials were pushing for war with Iran, Carlson was against it. Trump has said that it was watching Carlson's show which made him decide not to start a new war.

I understand that many people here are pro-war, but I think war is bad, and I applaud anyone who helps prevent one.

Trump is a liar, no more or less about any one thing than that specific thing - so that's handled. Beyond that, all this tells us is that you have a low and wonky threshold for applause. Please clap.

Tuck Tuck was "anti-war" in the same way that anyone who thinks we're fighting the wrong war™ is. We wasted a bunch of material, in minds like those, fighting foreign wars instead of the culture war in defense of Teh Whites...here at home. I think you can probably find better people to clap for, all the best people. For me, the pinnacle of his career won't be any of that, though. All of that kkk shit he got into was easy. It would be the way he turned an entire generation of cold warriors into putin puffers, and the way he exposed the media, by his own actions, as theater. Case in point, newsweeks contextualization as his being a firebrand for putting out criticism of zelensky. Buried lead.

He was a liar, a proven liar (proven by his own conversations within FOX communications). He was someone who lied for someone (Trump) whom he privately admitted detesting.
...and you are rooting for him, arguing he is less of a liar than everyone else.

I think you can make a strong case that the cost of settling the Dominion lawsuit, plus at least one lawsuit against Carlson personally that he's likely to lose, are entirely sufficient to explain his firing. Someone had to go, and it wasn't goint to be Murdoch.

I think a business model based on hiring people sure to get you sued is not sustainable, so I think it's unlikely that they'll replace him with someone worse. I think they'll go with slightly less terrible, so the can skirt close to the line of getting sued without crossing it.
