health dangers of being spiritual without religion.

RE: health dangers of being spiritual without religion.
I've never really understood the "spiritual, but not religious" claim. OK, so you believe in a higher power but you don't actively worship it, or something?
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

You have to spell the middle part phonetically.

I know so many people who make that claim. Most of them are on a serious hippy-trip. It doesn't surprise me that there is a higher rate of mental illness and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it had to do with drug consumption. LSD, Mushrooms and even weed seem to give some people 'spiritual feelings.' They also lead to mental health problems. Not a big mystery or surprise to me.

That's bullshit, but the fact that people believe it still is no big surprise to me.

Isn't that kinda like in the 70s when everyone claimed they were "bisexual" just because that let you say you weren't "all the way" gay?Tongue

You linked me to a page that just wants a login. I'd be amazed if your claim was true though as I've personally known people who have gone way off the deep end from using too much acid.

Edit: Okay so I found what is probably study that you were linking on another page and there is a very obvious problem with it which is that it involves people reporting their own mental illness. For example I have a family member who claimed that he developed psychic powers after having used LSD. If you asked him whether or not he had mental illness he would say no although to me it's very obvious that LSD has affected him mind permanently. If that is the same study (actually it's more of just a survey) it seems to be very sloppily done. To really do such a study you'd need to do far more than call a lot of people and ask them a few questions. I have an open mind on the subject, although like I said I'd be very surprised if that were the case. Have you never met someone who perma-fried?
