The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period before 2000.

Of 28 examiners with the FBI Laboratory’s microscopic hair comparison unit, 26 overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far, according to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Innocence Project, which are assisting the government with the country’s largest post-conviction review of questioned forensic evidence.

Arizona cop charged with murder for shooting and killing unarmed Texas man

Officers set up outside Shaver’s room and ordered him and a woman to leave, get on the hallway floor and crawl toward police, prosecutors said. The woman complied and was taken into custody.

Shaver was fatally shot when he made a motion with his right hand toward his waistline as he crawled toward officers, prosecutors said in a statement.

Ah, the dreaded "motion" towards the waistline...because no one ever has to pull up their fucking pants.

Saying, “This is what we have to go through in Cincinnati,” a black man strolling down the street drinking a cop of coffee filmed a police officer stalking him, leading to  a confrontation that ended with him handcuffed and face-down on the ground.

And yes, the police chief said they would investigate "internally" which I'm sure is a big relief because those "investigations" are so thorough.

Brooklyn man, 86, mistakenly Tasered by NYPD while making soup at home, is cleared of criminal charges

A judge dismissed criminal charges Monday against an 86-year-old Brooklyn man who was mistakenly Tasered by NYPD cops who were responding to a call about an emotionally disturbed man in his 20's.

John Antoine was making soup and chopping an onion in the kitchen when cops burst into his Bedford Stuyvesant apartment last October.

Morons.

Pay up, NY.

Antoine was charged with “harassment” and transported by cops to two different hospital emergency rooms for mental exams - apparently looking for a doctor to say he was nuts - but he was given a clean bill of mental health, according to his lawyer Scott Rynecki who has filed notice to sue the city for $5 million.

“We’re very thankful that Mr. Antoine did not suffer a heart attack or die as a result of being Tasered,” Rynecki said.
