What's a "cafeteria Catholic?"
Is it just like a non practicing Catholic?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

It's like going through a cafeteria line: a "Cafeteria_______" is someone who picks and chooses the parts they want to follow and adhere to.

You're a cafeteria Catholic. You accept those parts that you like, and do not follow the church on other matters if I understand you correctly.

You misunderstand then. I adhere to all the teachings of the Church.

Just like in the line at the cafeteria. You pick and choose what to eat. They pick and choose which parts they want to believe.

What does she not believe? I'm curious.
You should have her sign up. It'd be nice to have another Catholic on here... cafeteria or not. My friend said she was going to join, but never did.

The not believe, I'll have to start making a list. I know she is pro choice. She is against confession. Against celibacy.
She will never sign up for AF. She thinks I'm nuts for being here. For her, religion is not discussed outside the circle.

As far as religion goes,
Everyone's a no true Scotsman in the eyes of someone else. Each to their own.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

Gotcha, thanks for answering.
Does it bother you that she believes in God and is a Christian?

Nope. After this much time together we have learned to agree to disagree. Now we just tease each other a lot.
