What this thread is doing is trying to absolve religion from any crimes against humanity it is commiting by saying "well it's not in the original text". It's like people saying "Muhammad was a feminist"
I don't care, I really don't. Even if Muhammad was the most pro-woman, pro-gay and tolerant individual in living history (which he definitely wasn't) that still doesn't change what is happening in Muslim communities today. "But that's not the real Islam!" Ok well why don't you tell that to Saudi Arabia, or Iran, or Bangladesh, that the Islam they are practicing is "not real Islam" - you might just get 1000 lashes for your herecy. This isn't a joke, it's reality, it's being done under the banner of this religion regardless of what the text says.
I have read neither the Quran or the Hadith so I can't say for sure, but from what I hear it seems like Muslims are eager to say "well the Quran doesn't say x" but then fail to mention that the Hadith probably does, or if not the Hadith then certainly general Islamic jurisprudence.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
