The belief that greed or the threat of starvation should be the motivation for participation in the economy is vicious.

And that is yet another strawman of our position, as theVOID has pointed out already.

The equation of libertarianism and deregulation with freedom and equality cannot survive scrutiny in a world where untamed capitalism means unrelenting poverty, disease, and unemployment.

Exactly which world would that be? You're having a laugh if you think deregulated capitalism is causing poverty, disease, and unemployment in this world. There isn't a country on the planet that uses untamed capitalism. The governments of the world love messing around with the economy, and it is their fault we are in this mess in the first place.

I support a government which serves the general welfare of the people, not the profit of a few.

A government that completely removes itself from the economy is not serving the profit of the few. It astounds me that you can even think otherwise. Governments should look after their people whilst not being too invasive; letting them live their lives the way they see fit as long as it does not affect the liberty of others.

You want them to completely ban drugs...
