He was approaching the situation with them as His children. Parents do it, they approach their children many times knowing the wrong they did without the children knowing they know. I almost confused myself.

It clearly reads that they hid themselves from from His presence, but...potato/po-tah-to, I guess!
Not the only time Biblical God appears to "find out" stuff, or doesn't seem to know what happens next;
But, I suppose your explanation of "No...He's just kidding." makes more sense.
