The Palestinians are on the ass end at least since 1948. They were always intrumentalised by the Arab nations, by the West. Sometimes willing tools, sometimes just on the receiving end, sometimes perpetrators.
But I see a major mistake in criminalising Arafat back in the day. Yes, he commissioned acts of terrorism, but terrorism had a different look in the 70ies and 80ies. It wasn't geared at killing as many as possible, but to blackmail and to draw attention to the cause. It was only after Arafat's demise that Hamas was really able to take over. And that's a two sided medal in itself. The people being at the ass end of sanctions and closed borders only see Hamas providing hospitals, schools and food. They, as is natural with people in need, don't look beyond the positives. They don't care what they stand for. Only for what they provide.

This is where the problem lies. It is a bit like those who follow Ken Ham when they do not want to listen to anything else, regardless of the overwhelming facts that are available. There is only one solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. That is, to elect someone who is of Palestinian origin, who will work with Israel and is genuine in their efforts. We all know that Israel will always be on their guard, however, with an agreement similar to the entente cordiale between England and France, then maybe something positive can finally come out of it. In fact, should religion ever die out in that area, then they would be able to live together in harmony.
