For example, it could be that I "get into heaven" if and only if I don't believe in God. So believing in God is not "playing it safe" at all.
This is why unfalsifiable propositions are utterly useless.
It is not only shallow, on a mass scale, it can be quite dangerous. The worst atrocities in human history worldwide were committed by masses who were absolutely sure. The bait of a utopia payoff is where the "just in case" argument works. That is why I despise Pascal.
